You know what’s hard? Losing motivation. I had been lifting weights 3x a week, every week for the past year. I was progressively overloading and building strength that I could see. It was really encouraging, and I enjoyed exercising in my little garage gym, but the holidays threw a wrench in my workout regimen. I know it’s not an excuse. Well, it’s not a good excuse. After all, don’t we all have special events that we celebrate? I’m not BLAMING the holidays for my plummet from the band wagon, but I am attributing the business of the season, the cold weather, and the overall abandon of will power to them.
What also isn’t helping the situation is that I have a contracting company working right beside my garage door. My very shoddy garage door with a window that eliminates all privacy. I’m shy. I look stupid when I work out. I blast Eminem. No one wants to see/hear that. I’m really sacrificing my health for the integrity of the construction workers. It’s rude to laugh at your client.
I have the best intentions to begin lifting weights again. My deck is supposed to be finished this week, so I’m hoping that I will be able to get myself motivated.

I absolutely HATE working out. I will walk when the weather is nice, but that’s it. I am a “Sr” at my age, and I’m afraid if I lifted weights, a body part would fall off, or break for ever. Don’t laugh, but I am looking in to Sr Chair yoga. Stop laughing!!! I need to stretch, strengthen my legs and be able to take care of my precious Dad.
You’ve got this lady. Get back to working out and just know you will feel better for it. (I know….i’m one to talk). You can’t let your sisters out do you on “the guns”.
I would NEVER laugh at you. I think sitting Yoga is a great way to improve your range of motion and focus on resistance training. I would also like to improve my flexibility this year.
You are one of the most consistently training people I know. I know you’ll be back in it soon. I need to get going too!!!
